Marolin was founded in 1900 in Steinach, Germany, produced composition models. They were mainly holiday themed, but toys as well. During the Cold War the company lost their independance and the production was changed to more 'modern' plastic. In 1963 the company took over the production from Lineol. New moulds that better suited plastic were made in 1967. They were smaller than the original figurines and most were produed until 2010. In 1972 the company was completely taken over and was enruled in the cooperative for toy manufacturers, VEB Plaho.
In 1990 Marolin regained their independance. In present time most of the production is holiday themed.
